First event for San Diego Team Dirty Red Running Group

May 1st marked our first 5K Fun Run with the help of The House of Fitness in Carmel Mountain (San Diego, CA).  We were not sure how many people would show up but we had over 20 participants with 2 of the participants running their first 5K!  The money was raised to help feed children in Tanzania, Haiti and now Japan.  The Friends and Family Community Connection will receive nearly $300 and even though this may not seem like much.  That money will feed nearly 1200 families for nearly a week.  Please check out their site and learn how they receive donations, pack food and send it to these much needed areas around the world, including San Diego.

Our first place male runner to finish was Jeffery Heard and our first place female runner was Charlotte Ray! They did a great job and not only did they finish first, they went back to help the others finish with a smile.  What a great effort! All the kids involved were 8 years and under! Instead of running the Kid's Kiddie K run, they decided to run with their parents and other runners! So each child ran a full 5K run and were still ready to play and eat HOT CAKES after the event.

For our next event, we will be celebrating Dad's on Saturday, June 25th! We are very excited to get the community out and running! Families are coming out and enjoying their community and meeting neighbors they did not know that they had.  We will continue to work on bringing the community together through FUN RUNS and raising awareness on the hunger that continues to go on in this country and developing countries around the world.
