I don't like New Year's Resolutions
....but I have made a small list of things
I would like to see change for me in 2013.
UGH but herre we go!

1) Run more.  With my husbands schedule and my girls being so busy with school, soccer and cross country, it's been HARD to get my daily runs in.  So, definitely MORE RUNNING!
2) Be a better instructor and trainer.  I am always looking for ways to be better and the one thing that will help me is to get out of my own head.  I live in it and I need to become a neighbor and just be the best!
3) Give more to others.  Starting with this blog.  I love receiving information and sharing it with everyone else because even though we are all different, it's good to hear what others are up to and how we can learn from them as well.  There is always a lesson to be learned.
4) Become "COCK" strong!!!  LOL! I know that sounds crazy but I just want to be a little ball of muscle again! I love being able to teach, train and GO like the energizer bunny! So, you will see me doing more and hopefully feeling stronger than ever before!
5) Personally, I want to be a more loving wife and stronger mom.  Yes, I want to be "SuperWomen"! It will benefit my family and when they are happy, I am happy! What does that mean? Get more organized, put what's important first and continue to build a strong foundation for my girls to jump and leap from.  Do you get it?

What are your New Year's Resolutions.  I don't believe in long lists because you start to make long lists and then get disappointed that you can not finish that list.  So, start with 3 or 4 things that are "DO-ABLE" and get it going! Do NOT set yourself up for disappointment.  It's the hardest thing to swallow.  I would love to know what you are doing for the New Year! Many of you email me and that's great!!! Keep the coming and don't hesitate to comment as well!

Happy New Year!
DO THEM.
Just because it is the holiday season, don't give up on your health.  Stay in shape, fight off the flu season and eat right.  Don't give an excuse that it's your families fault or there is no time or you are "on vacation".  When it comes to your health and well being, you are never on vacation.
So, get out there and "do it"!

NEW MUSIC MONDAY!
As a runner, we LOVE to run for a cause.  Well, you don't have to be a runner to give and help others. The American Red Cross does so much for so many but it could not work without our donations and hearts for giving.  Check out the latest email that American Red Cross Supporters receive from President and CEO of ARC, Gail McGovern and find out how you can get involved.
When Kerry Barnes's home was devastated by a house fire, the Red Cross was able to provide immediate assistance to get her and her family back on their feet. People like you know that every disaster, big or small, is life changing for the family who lives through it.

Watch her inspirational video about the fire now, and share her story with your own loved ones on Facebook or Twitter.
Responding to everyday disasters like house fires and flooding is a huge part of what we do at the American Red Cross. Our volunteers and staff are on the scene right away, with water and snacks for hungry families, gift cards to purchase clean clothes and food, mops and brooms to clean up damaged homes even toothbrushes. They also sit with families who have lost everything, providing the emotional support that can be overlooked when disaster strikes.

These aren’t just niceties – they’re the first steps towards helping families rebuild their lives. And they’re only possible thanks to supporters like you.
Make a life-changing year end gift today to help people who need it most.
Thank you again for your support. Together we can help transform peoples' stories of pain, confusion and fear … into stories of hope.

Sincerely,

Gail McGovern

MONDAY MOTIVATION

I don't know about you but Monday's are always bitter sweet! You come off a good weekend and teh next thing you know, you start to watch the clock on Sunday starting at 12 noon KNOWING what is right around the corner.  For me, it's the mommy and wife thang, the work thang and then the run/workout!  We all face it and one way or another, we must get through it.  LOL!

This week, I have to tell you, I am SO MOTIVATED to get moving and grooving.  I don't want to wait until the new year because ideas, people and places are fresh in my head now.  New Year's resolutions, to me can set you up to fail and I hate that feeling. . .trust me. . .it's just a feeling, you can always start over.

What if you visualized an "impossible you".  In my head, I can see this incredible individual doing amazing things.  Sometimes, it's just helping other do little things to get through the day and then there are other times I can actually see myself flying.  I know that sounds crazy but when I visualize myself doing things that I might think is challenging to accomplish, I device a plan and go for it.  Competing against yourself is the hardest competition and for me, it keeps me focused and motivated.

I try not to concern myself with what everyone else is trying to do.  Sometimes others surpass me and if I let that get to me, I can start to lose my motivation.  I'm happy for them but they are not my concern.  My goal is my concern.

Even though you may have a plan and the plan does not unfold the way that you want, there is a lesson to be learned and you have to learn it in order to move on and excel.  Just like the image above says, "If you're tired of starting over, stop giving up".  I am not going give up and I would hate to see you give up!  It could be a simple goal to finish a 5K or really challenge yourself to finish a marathon.  What about that promotion you might want or job that you are pushing to get.  Keep pushing and ignore what others say, no matter how many hurdles may be stacked against you.  You might be in love with someone or something and you are slowly giving up because of the obstacles that are put in your way.  KEEP MOVING and follow your instinct. If it's not meant to be,  that is OK because there is another plan for you that will grant you so much more than you bargained for. . .so stay motivated!

Happy Monday to you and Keep Moving!

FRIDAY'S FEATURED FRIEND
I need a little "BOOM" this Friday!
I met David Freeman about 8 months ago at a fitness photo shoot in L.A.  I had admired him from afar, as an athlete, through numerous fitness videos he would post on FACEBOOK and other social sites.  I loved his motivation, determination and focus to help others get in the best shape of their lives by not just talking about it but "doing it"!  David has been named "Personal Trainer of the Year" three years starting in 2009.  David is married to the beautiful 2008 Olympian, Mechelle Lewis Freeman and he has no plans of slowing down!  David knows exactly what his purpose is in life.

Below is David's story via VIDEO.  I think this is a great stepping stone for young male athletes with big dreams and an infectious drive.  Watch the video, get motivated and keep moving!
Thanks for starting "The Movement" and inspiring all of us to keep moving and live out our dreams!

FITNESS IS LIFE
I AM WHAT MANY HATE...
SOME LOVE...
BUT ALL THAT MATTERS TO ME IS MY FAM,
FRIENDS, AND THE LORD ABOVE
