Are you ready? June Newsletter
When summer hits, I am never ready. I worry about swimsuit season (not just for me but for my growing girls...Oi!), the girls being out of school (keeping them occupied) and working through beautiful summer days at a desk when I would rather be at the beach or running a trail somewhere. But this year...this year is a different story. I AM READY!
No matter how hot it gets in San Diego, the Akins' family will find ways to have a good time! We love heading to the beach, going on road trips and visiting friends for a good old fashion BBQ. My runner-gurl and soccer-gurl both need a well deserved break. They have been putting in long, late night hours of studying and training. I don't know how they do it but they handled their BUSINESS this year! But I can see it in their eyes, they are ready for a nice, relaxing break and I am going to make sure they have an AMAZING SUMMER! Even on our budget, I will be looking for some great deals and thrills for this "bigger" rugrats of mine!
Here in San Diego there are a lot of great places to check out this summer. I have listed 5 of our favorites below. Have fun, relax and stay cool this summer!
#1 BEACH. We are very fortunate to live near amazing beaches here in San Diego. Our favorite spots are Solana Beach and Carlsbad Beach. The girls love to boogie board and I love reading and sleeping! When I finish work, we head out 2-3 times a week!
#2 DRIVE-IN MOVIE. This one is a favorite for the whole family because we love a good movie and "how often to do you head to the drive-in"? We pop open the "Cookie Monster Truck" spread out the candy and popcorn all night long. Love this family time favorite!
#3. ROAD TRIP. I think we are one of few who love a good road trip. We usually head out to Vegas, Palm Desert or Arizona for a few days. As a family, we really enjoy each other's company and love learning more about what makes each of us tick!
#4 E A T I N G OUT. Who doesn't love to eat? One of our favorite spots is Old Town San Diego and if you eat at ANY of the great Mexican restaurants in that area, you will NOT go wrong. There's shopping, events and A LOT of great food to choose from. Perfect for a night out with the one you love OR the ONE'S you love.
#5 HANGING AT THE FAIR. Now, I am not one for crowds but the DelMar Fairgrounds know how to put on a party! With everything fried, fun and fabulous for the whole family...there is NO WAY a family of 3 or more should miss this event. Get your tickets NOW because the fair opens up June 5 and runs through July 5th!
