YOUR BODY

Right before my presentation, a woman shared with me that she had to work on loving herself first.  I could tell that she was having a very hard time with it but I also realized at that moment how strong she was for admitting that.  It's not easy to blame ourselves for our own issues but she did and the change started right THERE!

Many of us want to blame something or someone for what we do to ourselves and that's not fair.  That is not fair to you and those around you.  Understand where you are, how you got there and KNOW that you have the choice to make a change in your life.  No one is going to do it for you but you can do it for yourself.  

That's having POWER!

FACTS:

Over 35% of Americans are obese.  That means 35% are about 30 lbs over their ideal weight.  

60% of Caucasian Women are overweight.

80% of African American Women are overweight and 

70% of Latina women are overweight.  

80% of the Chronic Diseases that we obtain could be reduced significantly or not exist if Americans would eat healthier and exercise everyday.  

EXCUSES:

"I will mess up my hair."

"I don't have the time."

"I hate to sweat."

"The gym is too intimidating."

"I just don't like it."

The recommended time to exercise is 30 minutes a day. . .ideally, 1 hour per day.  If you sit at a desk all day. . .get up and move to the copy machine, bathroom or co-workers desk every 20 minutes.  Your body will be in a healthier state than sitting all day.

Nicol A. Hodges aka "Nic" is fitness professional (NASM, CPT/PES) and product designer living in San Diego, CA. Nicol's athletic background started in her hometown of St. Charles, MO where she earned her 400m state ranking 3 years in a row. Later, at the University of MO, Columbia she earned 8-Big 12 Track and Field titles and a championship title. Nicol currently continues her love for running by competing in local and national running events.
