This weekend was a busy fitness weekend for me with new Les Mills releases and a fitness presentation for nearly 100 women at "The Cove" in Rancho Bernardo, CA. It is always a pleasure for me to share information and motivate other women/men to workout and push them to another level. This week, I want to share with you what I presented this weekend.
My NEW YEAR NEW YOU series helps you look at where you are when it comes to your fitness level, your mental fitness and your soul/spiritual fitness. You don't have to be a religious person and you don't have to be a pro-athlete. You just need to be you and understand "the truth" about where you are and where you want to be.
The first part of the presentation looks at the MIND. . .
Everything starts with the MIND and this is PART ONE. . .a small part. . .but part one. In the LEFT box write down the following words:
2) Family and Genes (your DNA)
3) Overall Health (your overall health)
5) Personal Image (your personal image)
In the RIGHT box write down the first thing that comes to mind. It doesn't matter if it is good or bad, just write down your first thought.
If you have more than three things that are negative, it's time to remap the way you think. If you have 2 or less, you are pretty satisfied with where you are and changing things up a bit will not be a big task.
What's great about the mind is that you can change it. . .whenever YOU are ready! You can immediately change one thought into another. You can take a negative thought and automatically make it a positive.
"I hate to workout" . . . "I have the ability to move and change my body for the better".
"I don't like my job" . . . "In this economy, I have a job and I have the opportunity to change occupations without losing an income".
"When I run or workout, my knees feel a little achy, so I will just miss out" . . . "My legs are a little achy when I workout but maybe if I chat with a fitness expert, I can find an alternative and keep moving".
This is called remapping your brain. You can actually reprogram your neural pathways to become more positive and less negative. It's not always easy when we are in a sticky situation but it can be done. You have to focus on what you want and stay focused. How bad do you want it? That is up to you and how you TRAIN your BRAIN.
1) You have to prepare your mind to focus on your goal (one goal at a time).
2) You have to keep a sober mind (not necessarily in drinking terms) and that means keeping your thoughts/goals clear and obtainable.
3) You must believe in yourself. If you don't believe in yourself. . .who will?
