Morning Run

It has been over a year since I have gotten up with the chickens and hit the pavement.  I kept chalking it up to old age or late nights but really it's the bed's fault.  "The bed" just feels sooo goood and it is sooo warm in the mornings.  When I stick my big toe out of the covers, I quickly pull it back in and just sink deeper into "the bed".

Well, ever since I left Vegas last month and a friend told me she was beating me in Nike+ points because she runs EVERY DAY at 5:30AM (training for a marathon). . .I have been trying to find the strength to get my skinny butt out of bed to get it going again!  Today was THE DAY! I have to admit, the process of waking up this morning was actually very cool!

I keep a small window open in my bedroom and the birds were chirping VERY LOUD this morning.  I have to admit, I love the sound because it's a happy sound.  I imagine them playing around with each other and sharing the latest bird gossip.  Yes, my mind goes there! LOL!

I have no IDEA what I put on this morning but I did get up and roll out.  I completed 3.23 miles at a nice 8:45 pace.  Got home and was filled with energy and pure happiness.  I need more morning runs because I forget how I feel afterwards.  I am in a better mood, I am more talkative, my kids like me and I am ready to conquer anything that life throws at me.  I am so excited that I am even thinking about putting in a second run today. . .I'll keep you posted on that. LOL!

I highly suggest, if you can, get in an early morning run or walk.  I know that some of you don't live in tropical/desert-like area so fighting the snow and cold can be difficult.  BUT (there's always a BUT), if you can get out of bed, reach and stretch your body as far as you can stretch.  Run in place for a minute and half, reach and touch your toes and get a couple of push ups and body weight squats in. . .I am TELLING YOU. . .you are doing GoOd ThInGS to your body and you will feel naturally energized.

Where do you run? What do you do to stay in shape?  Happy Running!
