FRIDAY'S FEATURED FRIEND!
I met Ingrid about 7 or 8 years ago through a dear friend of mine that helped me get "use to" the LA lifestyle! I was just starting my own athletic wear company and needed a couple of models to wear my gear.  Introduction to Ingrid Walters, I have to say my first girl crush! LOL! She was so warm, beautiful and nice, I think we immediately connected for a moment. . .at least when we started to talk about running! Needless to say, she did an incredible job for my first solo photo shoot and so did her dog, Miles!

Ingrid's day job is modeling and acting.  She has been a guest star on television shows like "Brothers&Sisters", "Grey's Anatomy", "CSI:NY" and "Baywatch". . .not too shabby at all!  To sum it up, Ingrid has done 40 tv commercials, numerous television shows and movies.  She says that running keeps her grounded, especially in her line of work.  Needless to say, she is incredible in every way! Here is her story on why she runs and LOVES staying fit!

"I was a competitive swimmer for 15 years and a L.A. County Beach Lifeguard. I started swimming when I was 5. My dad was a captain in the marine corps and taught my brother and sister and myself swimming very early. So, fitness and competition has been a part of me for as long as I can remember. I started running when I ended my swimming career at UCLA. I wanted to try something different fitness wise so I started training for a marathon and was hooked. I just recently over that past 2 years started competing. I ran the L.A. Marathon this year with a P.R. of 3:07.56 and won the USATF Masters Women's division.

How does running make you feel?
"OMG. There's no feeling like it! It makes me feel happy, relaxed, accomplished, strong, feminine, the list goes on!  I always feel like I can do anything.  Also, I love to sweat and I ALWAYS feel like my insides thank me when I'm finished. Not to mention what it does to your skin..:)"

How long have you been running?
"I've been running competitively for the past 2 years but ran my first marathon almost 15 years ago! I've only ran 5.  I love challenging myself to run faster. It's an individual sport and the only person that can make me better is me. It's such a huge part of my life. I use running as a metaphor in my daily life. Everything I do I can relate it to my running or my swimming. Having started at such an early age I can't help but have a drive to always be the best I can be. It's weird because the older I get the faster I get! I also love that you can run anywhere! There's no excuse not to run."

Who inspires you?
"I get inspired when I see other people running. The great thing about runners is that anyone can do it! Everyone has different goals and it's nice to see people working towards them. I get inspired by older female athletes. When I see women in there 40's and 50's running under 3 hours in a marathon I get inspired. i get inspired by older people running in their 60's, 70's,80's..ect.. I get inspired when I see women running after having children. I run with The Janes elite women's running team and there are a lot of women who have children and families. They inspire me.·

What would be your advise to other runners?
"The more you challenge yourself the stronger you become mentally. My advise would also be to have fun and sweat as much as possible! There's nothing like the glow we have after a nice run! "

Ingrid, I know we don't see each other at all but you have ALWAYS been inspiring to me! Keep doing "YOU"!
