FRIDAY'S FEATURED FRIEND
The "Chuckster" is what I call him! Charles Jenkins is my Les Mills RPM (indoor cycling) "brothA". For a while I only knew him in passing. We would sub each others classes or switch nights to accommodate our schedules. Finally after about 4 months or so, we did a couple fitness events together and I really enjoy his company. I think I beat him in a push-up contest. . .right, Charles? LOL! I was also impressed by his teaching style because I knew he had some experience on an outdoor bike. What I didn't know, Chuck is a professional Cross Country Mountain Biker and he's been riding for over 15 years! You think you know someone. WOW! What I DID know, is that he is a proudly serves our country in the US Navy and I love when he shares his pics of sand storms and flying aircraft on FB. Here is his story. . .no excuses, be inspired!
I am a Professional Cross Country Mountain Biker and have been for 17 years. I have a Semi Pro National title, first ever 24 hour team US Championship title, 3 time California State Champion. My favorite race would have to be The Red Bull Divide and Conquer held in Durango, Colorado. I had to win a California State Championship to attend and even though I was 1 of 4 unknowns I took 3rd overall and passed 7 other teams to finish in that position.
I have been in the US Navy for 18 1/2 years and currently I am a part of the inland Search and Rescue Aircrewman in China Lake, California. We provide search and rescue for the entire Sierra Mountains and Death Valley areas.
When I train/workout, I try to get in something everyday except for Sunday (That's God's Day) unless I am racing. God is and always has been a big part of my life. I do not get to teach as often as I would like to because the format that I teach is not offered. I do keep up with the latest formats so when I head back to civilization, I will be set!
Keep Riding, Biking and Running!
